During the first lockdown, we have been developing our own unique fully wire-free system (no mains power required) that can be rapidly deployed to fly-tipping hotspots.
Initially developed as an interim solution for remote abandoned buildings and farms, it is an extremely cost-effective and quick solution to an age-old problem.
This product is not available anywhere else on the market, and so we have put together this list of FAQs to help you fully understand the technology and why we feel it is possible to eradicate fly-tipping for good.
The FTDS is a battery-operated, fully wire-free system. The CCTV equipment works with all networks (uses a roaming multi-SIM), up to ten 5 MegaPixel true day/night 1080p high-definition cameras can be installed, two-way audio with motion settings, local USB (if required) and Cloud Storage, remote computer or App login, full covert deployment kit and it is GPS Tracked with SMS alerts.
Most fly-tipping hotspots are rural and are extremely difficult areas to install CCTV services. There is typically no access to mains power, internet supplies or any security infrastructure.
Unfortunately, this is not true. Fly-tipping can sometimes be viewed as a victimless crime. However, besides the cost of clean-up, it is an anti-social activity which blights communities, undermines the quality of life and potentially brings health impacts from the pollution of the environment.
Ultimately, taxpayers end up footing the clean-up bill, with councils spending revenue that is sorely needed elsewhere to meet wider social needs. What's more, in some cases these areas can also attract other anti-social behaviour.
Far from fly-tipping being a victimless crime, its effects are likely to knock-on to the entire community. Industrial and domestic waste is being routinely fly-tipped several times each week. This includes general household rubbish and white goods, as well as items like car parts, tyres and asbestos. Refuse is dumped on roads, field access points and thrown over the fences sometimes posing a risk it could find its way into river systems.
No. Fly Tipping soaks up valuable time and resources.
Environmental enforcement officers would need to respond to reports and investigate to try to find evidence that could identify fly-tippers.
Dumped rubbish has to be cleaned up, and the resulting clean-up costs put a significant strain on council resources.
After carrying out numerous Risk and Privacy Impact Assessments, it was found that the majority of our solutions always revolved around providing a CCTV system that could be deployed and set up quickly with the minimum of effort.
Using low power and wireless technologies, the FTDS will overcome the limitations imposed by the lack of mains power and hard-wired connectivity.
The case/base station is self-contained and fully protected with a strong and robust IP67 Peli Case supplying power and tracking ability. This also contains a Lithium-ion battery (up to 7 days usage), 4G/LTE Router with WiFi & GSM Antennas and a quality NVR Digital Recorder that ensures footage will be stored securely and allowing the operator to view playback and live viewing remotely.
Our control system can be deployed in seconds up to 100m away from the fly-tipping hotspot.
Using WiFi Signalling between the covert camouflaged cameras and the control system, our GPS tracked unit has built-in recording and multi-network SIM Card signalling allowing immediate activation and viewing of live and recorded images.
When situations call for covert camera systems, yet require High Definition 1080p quality images and the ability to control the cameras remotely, then this solution that will satisfy many operators. All you have to do is switch on the case, mount your covert wireless camera(s) and the kit is ready to go.
The kit includes a GPS Tracker which allows you to be informed if the case is picked up or exits a certain geofence in real-time. This also gives you the ability to remotely turn on/off your case and check the battery voltage. The Mobile App and the GPS Tracking Platform are also available on a PC and give you access to the device information at any time from anywhere.
Testing and research are identifying enviable return on investment, and the results speak for themselves. Our solution makes an immediate impact.
When compared with the cost of regular clean-ups and the time and efforts of environmental and enforcement officers, investment in the FTDS is repaid multiple times in one year.
Additional battery packs can be added for extended surveillance up to 28 days depending upon usage.
The beginning of December 2020 is the projected launch date.
